Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Assalamualaikum everyone!

First thing first, I would like to give a warm welcome to those who have just started their study here.
AGM is introduced to aim to bring students who are studying in Wales together. Therefore, it is compulsory for the freshers to attend the AGM. It will be fun and great! There will be games and free food!

And not to forget, we will also have a break for zohor prayer. So girls, don't forget to bring telekung as well, ok? :)


The AGM will take place:

- Sunday, 7/10/2012
- 11am until 4pm (insyAllah)
- At Cardiff Metropolitan University

BDSSW Amazing Race 2012

There is no doubt that The Amazing Race 2012 is the biggest event for BDSSW 11/12 because this time, the event does not only consist of a race and challenges what not but also our Annual Barbeque event and a 'dress to impress' theme. With 7 groups competing to be the top dog and a huge number of volunteers, this event was indeed a success!

Laaaaadieeeeees and....

Gentlemennnnnnn!

For those who are wondering what was in the race, the following is the summary of the stations along with the map of where each stations took place.

Basically, the stations are distance apart from each other in Maindy, Heath and Cathays area.

Station 1 - Introduction, "Chinese Whispers" and "Find your next Clue" (Mahirah and Mai)
Station 2 - "The Shopping Challenge" (Riku)
Station 3 - "Easter Egg Challenge" (Adi and Tika)
Station 4 - Detour; "Teamwork- Pen in a bottle" or "Crosswords- Form a sentence". (Farah)
Station 5 - "Taking pictures with specific pose" (Razdey and Amin)
Station 6 - "More counting! And yield" (Michelle)
Station 7 - "Barbeque" (Haji and Zaty)
Station 8 - "The Magic Number" (Mahirah)

After a 5 hours race, the following teams have won the overall race. Well done to the winning team, best cheer and best theme!

Although it was a long tiring day with a mix of sunny day, rain and hailstone, it should be a great memory that you should treasure. Congratulations for completing the race to all teams! win or lose is not the main point. It's about trust, friendship and self improvement. Hope everyone do enjoy the event : )

Motivational talk and sembahyang hajat

Asalamualaikum semua,

Pada 15hb April lepas, Ceramah Motivasi dan Sembahyang Hajat telah diadakan di Dar Ul-Isra Muslim Educational and Welfare Centre, diketuai oleh Ustaz Haji Samali. Seramai 80 orang telah menghadiri majlis keagamaan ini dan ianya merupakan kerjasama BDSSW dan Cardiff Nusantara Network (CNN).

Mudah-mudahan usaha gigih dan doa kita akan diterima oleh-Nya. Amin ya rabbalalamin.

Cardiff European Game 2012

Congratulations BDSSW teams!!

For Netball
There were 5 teams competing for the places. Great new are.. Cardiff Angels 1 came as the runner up and Cardiff Angels 2 was the 2nd runner up! That was close there, indeed the two had to go against each other to break the tie. Either way, congrats to both teams


For Female Futsal
Cardiff angels came as CHAMPION for this tournament! The team consisting of Zaty, Fizah, Ziqah, Shikin, Mar, Farah and Michelle has successfully lead the game. One true fact was, they do not really play futsal! Congrats indeed!


For Male Futsal
Cardiff Dragons did not manage to grab any medal but they had great games that day. Good game guys!

For supporters/cheerleaders
WELL DONE on cheering! BDSSW has won the best cheer!

Pertandingan Lagu-Lagu Dakwah

Assalamualaikum semua,

Tahun ini, BruManch akan mengadakan Pertandingan Lagu-Lagu Dakwah sempena Hari Kebangsaan Negara Brunei Darussalam yang ke-28. Ini merupakan tahun kedua BruManch melangsungkan pertandingan ini dengan kerjasama BSUnion.


Pertandingan ini akan berlangsung pada:

Haribulan: 14 April 2012M / 22 Jamadil Awal 1433H
Tempat: Friends Meeting House, Central Manchester

Penyertaan dibukakan kepada persatuan-persatuan pelajar Brunei yang berada di Unite Kingdom dan Ireland. Ini merupakan peluang untuk menunjukkan bakat dan menambahkan lagi semangat kenegaraan. Kepada ahli-ahli BDSSW yang berminat untuk menyertai pertandingan ini, sila mesej Riku Munawar.

Kudos Welsh Guards!

CONGRATULATIONS WELSH GUARDS FOR WINNING 3RD PLACE IN BBSS PAINTBALL TOURNAMENT!!

This post is going to be slightly interesting because it is actually an exclusive interview with the Captain of Welsh Guard 2012, Isa Sukarni! Enjoy reading the interview. (Note: R is Riku Munawar and I is Isa Sukarni.)

R: Congratulations for being in the top three! Anything you would like to say before we start?
First of all, i'd like to thank all the members of the Welsh Guards for representing BDSSW, but more importantly to thank them for achieving 3rd place!

R: So, how did it goes?
I: The day didn't start out too well as we got lost and were the last ones to arrive.

R: That doesn't sound like a good start. Does that affect the morale of your team?
We only had a few minutes to get prepared before our first game, but that didn't stop us! Tired, late, and having one less player, we managed to topple the opponents within two minutes into the game (note: a game lasted 10 mins).

R: Wow, that's awesome! How did you guys managed to get in the top three then?
I: Pumped up and ready to win more, we managed to win four out of the five remaining games. By the end of the day, we were actually tied with the Chronic Keelers with 550 points.

R: Did you guys win against them?
having lost to them head to head, the advantage was on their side, forcing us to take the lower step on the podium.

R: Owww.. How are you guys feeling about that?
I: having majority of the players 'enlisting' for the first time, 3rd place was just as good as 1st for us. And at the end of the 'paintful' (painful, get it get it?), we were all proud of our achievements, and had a 'paintastic' time!
